CEMETERIES as a SOURCE
One great outdoor source of family history is the cemetery. "Massachusetts Cemeteries" by David Allen Lambert (2nd ed, 2008) provides information about all known cemeteries of Massachusetts, including reference sources and contact information.
The old cemeteries on Dudley Hill have been documented by Marilyn Labbe (and other citizens of Dudley) in a publication by the Killingly, CT Historical Society. Many Dudley residents, however, are buried in Webster. For example, in MT ZION CEMETERY in Webster the following 8 plots were the key to learning there were four Caldwell sisters (and families) who came to America to work at Stevens mill.

Plot 1: Hugh Boyd Crawford, Elizabeth Caldwell Crawford, Anne Crawford, Margaret Crawford
Plot 2: John Morrison Crawford, May Burnett Crawford, Hugh Wadsworth Crawford, Sr, Pearle Longley Crawford, Julia Burnett Crawford, Muriel Crawford Howard [Plot 2 is just to the left of the main front entrance]
Plot 3: Jane Caldwell, Anne Caldwell, Mary Caldwell Hoye, Alexander Hoye, Sr, Eliza Hoye, James Hoye, Anthony Hoye [Plot 3 is on outermost boundary of the old part of the cemetery on the hillside]
Plot 4: James Crawford, Emily Runyan Crawford, Elizabeth Crawford Crawford, Fred Carroll Crawford, Ethel Crawford
Plot 5: Joseph Crawford, Kate Mansfield Crawford
Plot 6: Marion Crawford Freeman, Myron Freeman
Plot 7: Alexander Hoye, Jr., Jennie Harris Hoye (1), Mary McGaw Hoye (2), Ernest Hoye, Ella Hoye, Mary Hoye
Plot 8: Matthew Hoye, Jane McIntosh Hoye, Andrew Hoye, Cecile Chauvin Hoye
Plot 9: Elisha Burnett
